Ask Without Shame – Emergency Sex Education via Mobile


Ask Without Shame is a non-profit social enterprise providing emergency sex education via mobile to improve and promote sexual health. It is a free and anonymous service to answer questions regarding sexual matters without judgment through android App, SMS, WhatsApp and a toll free hotline. Medical experts are available 24/7 to assist youth with the right information. Ask Without Shame has responded to over 30.000 users, is employing eight young sexual and medical experts and has received international awards such as the appsafrica Award for Social impact or the African Women Award.

Its founder and SINA scholar Ruth Nabembezi received the Queen Young Leader’s Award by Her Majesty Elizabeth II. the Queen of England, became an Ashoka Changemaker and an Echoing Green Fellow in 2017.

After Ruth had lost her parents and sister to HIV and AIDS, she started Ask Without Shame to transform her own story into a social enterprise preventing others from having to go through similar experiences. In 2017 Ask Without Shame also launched its HIV Awareness Social Media Campain and HIV Awareness Award, reaching over 1,000,000 youth online.
